What is an underglaze? What is the difference between underglazes and Stroke & Coat glaze? How do you use these glazes? What can you do with them?
Come and find out!
Using a white clay or speckled buff clay, bring a couple of smooth, leather hard test tiles, at least 4 bisque ware test tiles, one with texture and a bisque ware piece to glaze after experimenting.
You will have the opportunity to try a variety of glazing techniques: newsprint transfer, painting, stamping, sgrafitto, stenciling, texture rub…and come to learn how versatile these glazes are.
All glazes will be provided.
Instructor
Michele is an artist, retired school counselor and art teacher. On the first day of class her students always asked, “When are we doing clay?” And, of course, upon moving to SCW her first question was, “When can I join the clay club?!”
She is a former education co-chair, a former Beginning Hand Building teacher, and teaches a variety of other classes throughout the year.
