Learning the basic skills of throwing on the wheel. Skills covered in this class will be: Preparing clay for throwing, centering, opening up, pulling clay walls up, wiring your work off the bat, proper drying methods and trimming.
Bring B-Mix clay and an apron. Tools will be available to use during the class.
Instructor
I received a BA in Art from Cal State LA in 1974 and then spent 25 years on the art festival circuit primarily in Florida in the winters and in Chicago and the north east in the summers. Designing, manufacturing and selling polymer clay jewelry. From 1986 to 1996 I taught ceramics to elementary school children, which was truly the best job I ever had. What great fun. I have taken many clay workshops in my life and within the last three years, have consistently worked on my throwing skills at Treasure Coast Pottery in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where I also served as the assistant in dozens of wheel classes. I am so looking forward to sharing with those who wish to learn on the wheel.
