GR Forms – Plates: Oct 2025

Participants will learn the GR Form method with wheel attachment to construct a plate using the GR forms available in the Clay Club. At the conclusion of the class, each participant will have at least one completed plate. This process using the wheel to assist with basically a hand build project.
We will be using the forms kits in the Clay Club so a demonstration on how to check them out will be included.
Wheel is helpful but not required.
Supplies Needed:
- Clay of your choice (rolled out approximately 14” square, 3/8”)
- Sponges
- Needle tool
- Small knife
- Sturdy rib
- Scoring tool
- Mathematical compass (if you have one)
Instructor
I have been a Clay Club member for 7 years. I first took the GR Forms class presented by a member and then took it when a representative from the GR company came to our club. I have made numerous plates using this method on the wheel. (In fact, the method is called Wheel Assisted.) I was successful making an entire set of dishes; a 4 place setting of dinner plates, luncheon plates, dessert plates, soup/salad bowls, platter and serving bowls using this method. My other “specialities” are making Kachina and Nativities. Personally, I am a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a major in Elementary Education with a focus on Fine Arts. I have taught many things including 3 years teaching art to young children. I had minimal experience in Clay prior to joining the Clay Club.
